Welcome to Blue Barn Airedales!
My wife Jessica and I (Justin) began Blue Barn Airedales in 2015 with the purpose of sharing our love of Airedales and providing a quality pet to those hoping to share their lives and homes with this zany, loving, smart and wonderful dog.
My love for the Airedale goes back to my childhood. My parents Brian and Bette Brent got our first Airedales when I was very young; they had a litter of puppies, and that experience led them to start Woodriver Airedales in 1989. My brothers and I helped build pens and doghouses, fill feeders and water pails, clean pens, handle pups, and meet families on pick up days. These duties continued through my high school and college years. Afterwards, I always enjoyed seeing the dogs and helping out whenever I got home to visit.
When Jessica and I were dating, she enjoyed coming out to my parents to see the dogs (especially the puppies!) She had no prior experience with them, and she didn't need any convincing that an Airedale would be in our future together.....Fast forward to 2006. Jessie started her residency in Toledo and had just bought her 1st home. As a housewarming gift, my parents gave her Tootsie, a recently retired female, and she was the most loving, zany, and perfect house dog an Airedale could ever hope to be. After we got married she was joined by Lettie (another retired Woodriver Gal and grandma to Autumn and Great Grandma to Rosie and Daisy.) We became the retirement home for Woodriver females!
Fast forward to 2015; Jessie and I have settled onto our 10 acre mini-farm in Ashland County with our sons Jacoby and Brennan and daughter Avery. We've lost Tootsie and Lettie along the way after they had full and loving lives with us. We still miss them greatly. We have added and lost a pound puppy to our family , our boss farm dog Bailey, added many farm cats, plethora of chickens, Kune Kune pigs, and decided that we were always going to be an Airedale family. We found Autumn in Columbus shortly after we lost Tootsie, and then our future stud Beauregard (his friends call him Beau). Both of them are descendants of the Woodriver line of large-type Airedales. We came to the conclusion that since we were always going to own Airedales, and how difficult it was for us to find Airedale puppies ourselves that we would share these beautiful dogs with others.
We hope our puppies will provide you years of happiness and companionship!
